Dental Hygiene and Periodontal Health

Dr. Froonjian recomends that in most cases, pateints should have their teeth and gums examined and cleaned at least every 6 months to ensure proper oral health. Over the past few years we are understanding the relationship between oral health and systemic disease. With regularly scheduled visits, if a problem begins, we can detect it early enough to correct further problems.

If we feel that you are suffering from gingivitis or more severe gum disease, we may recommend a root scaling or planing. These measures can be instrumental in preventing bone loss and helping you to keep your natural teeth.

"I am often asked if a child needs 6-month check ups. The answer is yes, because of several factors. First, children often do not brush well, and if the parent is not supervising his or her brushing, it is probably not being done properly. Also, if decay does begin, it is much easier to treat it conservatively with our laser than to let it grow into something more severe."
